SUBMARINE SPRINGS

An extraordinary resource, fresh water from submarine springs.

A natural phenomena, submarine spring are existing all over the world.

Most of them were once land springs thousand years ago when sea level was lower.

Our ancestors knew about it as evidenced by the vestiges of spring catchment discovered in the eastern Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf.

Geological structure

When coastal geology is limestone or volcanic rocks, water circulates driven by gravity, which will naturally lead it to the lowest point: below sea level.

Less dense than saltwater, fresh water naturally rises to the surface creating an impact.

This is this natural phenomena we use to detect and produce it …

MOVIES

EXPLORATION

Each spring has specific physical and chemical characteristics that create some changes on the marine environment (density, salinity,…)

Thanks to numerous campaign performed over the last 15 years, we permanently improve the methods, means and sensors in order to provide state of the art technology for discovering and analysing springs.

The Exploration is divided into 3 phases:

– Phase 1: Geological studies and infra red survey

A better knowledge of the geological conditions by studying charts and performing field survey allows us to target the most promising places to concentrate our researches.

Since freshwater is lighter than saltwater, by rising to the surface it creates thermal and biological anomalies.

Major phenomena could be observed thanks to satellite, a technology giving access to data of covering periods over the last 10 years.

Successively, a survey with an airplane fitted with infra red cameras provides an overall mapping in which each anomaly is geo-referenced with higher accuracy.

– Phase 2: Locating the spring at sea bottom

An oceanographic vessel operates on the selected areas by deploying salinity probes and acoustic sensors as well as divers and robots to locate the exit of fresh water from the sea bed.

– Phase 3: Spring water monitoring

This is the complete spring studies lasting several months to measure the evolution of different physical and chemical parameters (flow, salinity,…).

Sensors fitted on a dedicated structure will be installed above the spring and records are regularly transmitted and analyzed by our experts.

PRODUCTION

In harmony with nature

To preserve the marine environment, our technology takes the advantage of natural energy such as buoyancy, hydraulic head, gravity … No pumps or electricity are used to produce our water.
Thus, this technology generates no pollution and no greenhouse gas and fits perfectly in the context of global sustainable development policies.

The balance of water resources preserved

The system is collecting only the volume of water provided by the spring, without disturbing the aquifer since there is no pumping.
The installation is made to withstand decades to marine constraint such as swell, current, storm.
Our production units are installed as close as possible to the bottom, to leave navigation free from obstacle.

Water for All!

With an optimized production cost, this water can be used for agriculture, industry, drinking water. A real opportunity for countries where water scarcity is an everyday problem …
